Billy Kellogg

Billy Udell Kellogg, 73, of rural Morning Sun, died Thursday morning, Oct. 12, 2000, at his home.

Born June 26, 1923, near Pleasant Grove, he was the son of Earl H. and Nellie Fye Kellogg. He married Elva Wiggins on Oct. 15, 1947, in Sigourney.

Mr. Kellogg was a graduate of Winfield High School and a World War II Army veteran. He was a farmer, having farmed in the Winfield-Morning Sun area all his life.

He was a member of Morning Sun United Methodist Church, where he was a former board member, a former school board member and a former 4-H leader, a 50-year member of Good Faith Masonic Lodge 235 of Winfield, a 55-year member of Winfield American Legion 643 and a member of 40 & 8 No. 661.

Survivors include his wife; one son, Steven Kellogg of Morning Sun; three daughters, Sharon Burk of Mount Pleasant and Deanna Connolly and Dana Royer, both of Morning Sun; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Dorothy Jean Helphrey of Winfield; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Hagele and Honts Funeral Home in Morning Sun, where there will be a Masonic service at 6 p.m. The family will receive friends following the Masonic service.

The funeral for Mr. Kellogg will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church of Morning Sun, with the Rev. Harlan Winter officiating. Burial will be in Winfield-Scott Township Cemetery, with military rites.

A memorial has been established.
