Corey Hummell

Corey A. Hummell, 37, of Mount Pleasant, died Sunday, Feb. 25, 2007, at his home.

Born Nov. 19, 1969, in Mount Pleasant, he was the son of Kenneth "Red" and Connie Bain Hummell. On Nov. 6, 1993, he married Melissa Hirschy at Trenton Missionary Church.

Mr. Hummell worked in the meat department at Dave's Foods, Sirloin Stockade, and in the bakery department at Hy–Vee. He was a 1988 graduate of Mount Pleasant Community High School, where he excelled in football, and attended Southeastern Community College and Hamilton Technical College.

He bowled in American League, Friday Night Scratch League, was on the 2004–05 all–star team, and served on the Mount Pleasant Men's Association Board of Directors. He coached the ASA Ballistic Girls softball team, and was a Dallas Cowboys and Atlanta Braves fan. He loved all sports.

Survivors include his wife; his parents of Mount Pleasant; his maternal grandmother; and three daughters, Nikole Rae Hummell, Hallie AnnMarie Hummell, and Kelsey Lee Hummell, all of Mount Pleasant.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents and one brother.

Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Thursday at Olson–Powell Memorial Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m.

The funeral for Mr. Hummell will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Olson–Powell Memorial Chapel, with the Rev. Joe Forest and the Rev. Bob Hamm officiating. Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for Corey Hummell Memorial.
