Howard Stucker

Howard Marcus Stucker, 93, of Mount Pleasant, died Wednesday, Dec. 30, 1998, at Park Place of Henry County Health Center in Mount Pleasant.

Born Nov. 18, 1905, in rural Pleasant Grove, he was the son of James Preston and Birdie Marie Jacoba Stucker. On Feb. 1, 1930, he married Alice Wilhemenia Blixt Bower in Danville. She died April 1, 1976.

Mr. Stucker was christened at a Lutheran church in Pleasant Grove. He and his wife began farming in the Danville area and moved to their farm south of Mount Pleasant in 1940.

He was a member of Cumberland Shinar Presbyterian Church and the Farm Bureau. As a hobby, he enjoyed flying his airplane throughout the Mississippi valley area during the 1950s and 1960s.

Survivors include three sons, Daryll M. Stucker of Santa Ana, Calif., Robert E. Stucker of Shoreview, Minn., and Wendell D. Stucker of Orange, Calif.; one daughter, Darlene Kimble of Mount Pleasant; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and five sisters, Grace Mathews of Danville, Hazel Lord and Joy White, both of Burlington, Fern Noble of Davenport and June Callaway of Hillsboro.

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one grandson.

Friends may call from noon until 7 p.m. today at Beatty Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant, where the family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday.

The funeral for Mr. Stucker will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Beatty Funeral Home with the Rev. Reva Rimmer officiating. Burial will be in Cumberland Presbyterian Cemetery.

A memorial has been established to the Cumberland Shinar Presbyterian Church to support the cemetery.
