Bonnie Sue Bergdahl Richart, 79, of Burlington, formerly of Washington, Ill., died Monday, April 24, 2006, at her home.

Born Dec. 13, 1926, in Mount Pleasant, she was the daughter of Axel and Etta Obermann Bergdahl. On May 25, 1950, she married Kenneth S. Richart in Vinton.

Mrs. Richart taught school in Iowa for two years, and at District 52 in Washington, Ill., for 29 years.

She was a graduate of Iowa Wesleyan College. She was a member of Shinar Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Pi Beta Phi, Sigma Tau Delta, Iota Phi, Stars and Stripes Chapter DAR, Chapter BD, and Tri T. She was a member and past president of Washington Recreation Association, Washington Park Board, Washington Retired Teachers and bridge clubs.

Survivors include her husband of Burlington; one sister, Belinda Lyons of Ames; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

A memorial funeral service for Mrs. Richart will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Shinar Cumberland Presbyterian Church of Pleasant Grove, rural New London, with the Rev. Steven Parker officiating. Inurnment will be in Shinar Cumberland Cemetery of Pleasant Grove at a later date.

A memorial has been established.
