E. J. MATHEWS DIES SUDDENLY
Well Known Henry County Farmer Dies of Heart Attack At Mt. Pleasant Home
(Special to the Hawkeye Gazette)Mt. Pleasant, Ia., Jan. 23 - Emerson J. Mathews, for many years one of Canaan township's most prominent farmers died suddenly Monday morning at the Mathews house on Broadway, from a heart attack. He had been as well as usual apparently until the early hours of the morning. Shortly after three o'clock he complained to Mrs. Mathews of not feeling well, after a short while he seemed better but when she awoke about five o'clock she found Mr. Mathews dead. Mr. Mathews was 71 years of age and survived by the widow and three sons, Perry, Guy and Milo and two brothers, Adolphus of Mt. Union and J.A. of Hedrick and three sisters, Mrs. Effie Chandler of Danville, Mrs. Ella Linch and Mrs. Fay Crocker of Mt. Pleasant.
