Glen Adolpheous Mathews

MT. PLEASANT- Glen Adolpheous Mathews, 98, of Rt. 4, died at 9:50 p.m. Friday, June 1, in the Long Term Care Center at the Henry County Health Center.

He was born June 29, 1885, near Mt. Union, to Adolpheous and Nellie Lutes Mathews. He married Jessie Bell Garrels Jan. 15, 1908, in Mt. Union. She died Nov. 12, 1966.

Surviving: one daughter, Velma Williams, Washington, Iowa; three sons, Dwight, Phoenix, Ariz.; Albert and Elmer, both of Rt. 4, Mt Pleasant; 14 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and several great-great grandchildren.

Services: 2 p.m. Tuesday, Elliot Chapel, New London, the Rev. Glen Richards officiating; Burge Cemetery. A memorial for the American Heart Association has been established.
