Matie Weyer

Matie Leota Weyer, 104, of Mediapolis, died at 1:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 28, 1999, at Integrated Health Service in Mediapolis.

Born July 26, 1895, in Mount Pleasant, she was the daughter of Herbert and Emma Klopenstein Yaunt. She married John Weyer in July 1917 in Burlington.

Mrs. Weyer was a homemaker. She lived most of her life in Des Moines County.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the Willing Workers Club and Faith Circle of the church.

Survivors include two sons, Harold Linder and John Weyer, both of rural Sperry; two daughters, Edith Sandy of Keosauqua and Norma Hale of Iowa City; 14 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and 19 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two husbands.

Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at Sheagren Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from noon to 2 p.m.

The funeral for Mrs. Weyer will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Sheagren Funeral Home, with the Rev. Carl Engstrom officiating. Burial will be in the Old Stone Cemetery, rural Sperry.

Memorials have been established for Trinity Lutheran Church and Integrated Health Service.
