Virgil Stockman
Virgil E. Stockman, 71, of Stanwood, formerly of Lisbon, died from cancer Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2006, in Mechanicsville Nursing and Rehab Center.
Born June 21, 1934, he was the son of Lacey and Dora Stockman. He married Patricia Cavin. They later divorced.
Mr. Stockman worked many jobs, including truck driving, auto body repair and owned Stockman Auto Sales in Stanwood.
He was a graduate of Winfield High School. He was a member of Lisbon United Methodist Church and Mount Vernon Masonic Lodge No. 112. He was a collector and frequented auctions and estate sales and was a vendor at flea markets. He loved music, especially blue grass and traditional country music.
Survivors include two sons, Jeffrey of Lisbon and James of Stanwood; one daughter, Julie Baker of Walker, two grandsons; two brothers, Richard of North Carolina and Delbert of Davenport; three sisters, Eileen Jennings of Columbus Junction, Louise Wagg of Washington and Norma Brunk of Montrose; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.
The graveside service for Mr. Stockman will be at 11:30 a.m. today in Winfield Cemetery, with Mary Morgan as celebrant.
A memorial has been established.
