Irma Carden
Irma Ruth Carden, 89, of Arlington, Texas, formerly of Corning, Iowa, died Wednesday, May 28, 1997, in Arlington.
Born May 30, 1907, in Vernon, Kan., she was the daughter of Andrew Ulysis and Grace Ellen Parks Walker. On Oct. 5, 1932, she married Everett Raymond Carden in Monmouth, Ill. He died in 1975.
Mrs. Carden graduated from Mount Pleasant High School in Mount Pleasant and attended business college in Burlington. She lived in Winfield, Alma, Neb., Cuero, Texas, and Minden, Neb., before moving to Corning. She was owner/operator of Carden's Bootery in Corning from 1952 to 1974, retiring in 1974.
She was a member of Presbyterian Church in Minden, Neb., and transferred membership to Presbyterian Church in Corning.
Survivors include one niece; two nephews; and one great-niece.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one son, one brother, one sister and one niece.
The funeral for Mrs. Carden will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Presbyterian Church of Corning, with the Revs. Ken Rummer and Jeanne Groom officiating. Burial will be in Winfield Cemetery.
Memorials have been established for Presbyterian Church and Alegent Health Mercy Hospital.
Coen-Beaty Funeral Home of Corning is in charge of arrangements.
