Marian Readinger

Marian R. Readinger, 80, of New London, died at 12:59 a.m. Thursday, April 3, 2003, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.

Born Sept. 19, 1922, in Galva, Ill., she was the daughter of Arthur E. and Ruth E. Lindbeck Johnson. On June 17, 1945, she married Dr. H.M. Readinger in Iowa City.

Mrs. Readinger was a homemaker.

She was a 1940 graduate of Galva High School and a 1946 graduate of the University of Iowa College of Nursing. She was a member of New London United Methodist Church, Ricordo Club, United Methodist Women and Patience Circle.

Survivors include her husband; three sons, Dr. Steven Mohr Readinger of Mount Pleasant, Randall Alan Readinger of Fort Madison and Brian Kent "Chip" Readinger of Burlington; one daughter, Rhonda Rae Mixon of New London; grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one son-in-law.

Visitation will begin after noon Sunday at Elliott Chapel in New London, where the family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m.

The funeral for Mrs. Readinger will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Elliott Chapel, with Pastor Matt Miller officiating. Burial will be in Burge Cemetery in New London.

Memorials have been established for New London Methodist Church, H.J. Nugen Library of New London and New London Rescue Unit.
