Mary Jeanne Schnicker

Mary Jeanne Schnicker, 82, of Burlington, formerly of New London, died Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2002, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington.

Born March 10, 1920, in Burlington, she was the daughter of John C. and Lulu Cain Fox. On April 3, 1943, she married Roy E. Schnicker in Burlington. He died Aug. 18, 2002.

Mrs. Schnicker was a secretary for Lago Marcino-Grupe Co. for 61/2 years and then secretary to the president of Iowa Wesleyan College for 22 years.

She was a graduate of Burlington High School and attended business school for one year. She was of the Protestant faith. She was a former member of King's Daughters.

Survivors include one daughter, Roxanne Schnicker of Burlington; two sons, Larry E. Schnicker of Dublin, Calif., and Dr. Steven C. Schnicker of Victoria, Texas; 10 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; one brother, John C. Fox Jr. of Burlington; and one sister, Helen Leffler of Burlington.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and one sister.

Visitation will begin after 9 a.m. Saturday at Elliott Chapel in New London, where the family will receive friends from 1 to 2:30 p.m.

The graveside service for Mrs. Schnicker will be at 3 p.m. Saturday in Burge Cemetery in New London, with the Rev. Shirley Bliven officiating.

A memorial has been established for the H.J. Nugen Library in New London.
