Ruth Ogg

Ruth Redfern Ogg, 94, of New London, died Tuesday, June 5, 2001, at New London Nursing & Rehab.

Born Jan. 8, 1907, in New London, she was the daughter of Charles and Carra Gittings Redfern.

Mrs. Ogg was a 1923 graduate of New London High School and attended Iowa Wesleyan College. She worked for Henry County and the state of Iowa for 30 years, as deputy auditor of Henry County from 1946 to 1965, and as county auditor from 1965 to December 1976.

She was an avid reader, a meticulous bookkeeper and was very proud of her heritage. She grew up on and owned the family farm north of New London. She was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority.

Survivors include three grandchildren, John Lange of Kirksville, Mo., Andy Lange of Bowling Green, Ky., and Megan Schonecker of Erlanger, Ky.; four great-grandchildren; and two nieces, Linda McNeil of Ainsworth and Dianne Barber of Laura, Ill.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter and one brother.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at Elliott Chapel in New London. There will be no family visitation.

The graveside service for Mrs. Ogg will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Ferrell Cemetery, New London, with the Rev. Jim Edwards officiating.

Memorials have been established for New London Nursing & Rehab Center, H.J. Nugen Library and the Dover Historical Society, both of New London.
