Velma Giberson

Velma Iola Giberson, 87, Nelson Nursing Home, Fairfield, died at 925 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 13, 1997, at Jefferson County Hospital in Fairfield.

Born June 23, 1910, near Stockport, she was the daughter of George Washington and Lillie Bell Brown Harter. On March 15, 1935, she married Lloyd "Pug" Giberson in Fairfield. He died July 22, 1996.

Mrs. Giberson was a homemaker and worked as a cook and baker in Stockport.

She lived in the Stockport area for more than 60 years. She was a member of Stockport Christian Church, Stockport American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and Women's Christian Fellowship.

Survivors include one daughter, Wilma E. Savage of Danville; one son, Harold "Rusty" Giberson of Stockport; 12 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and two sisters, Vercie Brown of New London and Vera Parker of Salem.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, two sons, one daughter, three brothers and one sister.

Open visitation will be from noon to 6 p.m. today at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield. The family will receive friends from 930 to 1030 a.m. Monday at Stockport Christian Church.

The funeral for Mrs. Giberson will be at 1030 a.m. Monday at Stockport Christian Church, with the Rev. Milton Duhon officiating. Burial will be in Spencer Cemetery in Stockport.

A memorial has been established for Stockport Christian Church.
