Jimmy Detrick
Jimmy D. Detrick, 60, of New London died Wednesday, May 24, 2006, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.
Born Sept. 10, 1945, in Mount Pleasant, he was the son of Rex and Mildred Bird Detrick. On Dec. 23, 1977, he married Gloria Bjorklund.
Mr. Detrick worked in maintenance at Lomont Molding and Independent Builders in Mount Pleasant. He also worked for Carl A. Nelson & Co. in Burlington and Iowa Bridge and Culvert in Washington.
He attended Bethany Country School and Mount Pleasant High School. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, playing cards and board games, traveling, animals, nature, gardening, building bridges and his dog. He also enjoyed practical jokes.
Survivors include his wife; two sisters, Fonda Arbogast of New London and Donna Shaw of Muscatine; three brothers, Larry Detrick, Bob Detrick and Dennis Detrick, all of Mount Pleasant; nieces; and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Elliott Chapel in New London, with family meeting friends from 10 to 11 a.m. His body has been cremated.
The memorial service for Mr. Detrick will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Elliott Chapel, with the Rev. Sue Tomlinson officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Mount Pleasant.
A memorial has been established.
