James Pendell

James Paul Pendell, 74, of Mount Pleasant, died at 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 14, 1999, at Mapleleaf Health Care Center in Mount Pleasant.

Born Jan. 27, 1925, near Peebles, Ohio, in Adams County, he was the son of Robert D. and Elizabeth L. Ivers Pendell. On June 11, 1955, he married Marilyn J. Tindill in Wapello.

Mr. Pendell farmed near Wapello for many years and moved into Henry County in 1959. He retired in 1987 after many years with the Henry County secondary road maintenance department.

He went to school in Oakville and served in the Army just after World War II. He attended Finley Chapel United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife; one son, Ronnie R. Pendell of Mount Pleasant; two daughters, Connie K. Pendell and Nancy Witte, both of Mount Pleasant; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother, Bob D. Pendell of Seaman, Ohio; and five sisters, Mary Rickerl and Ruth Ann Shock, both of Muscatine, Faye Louderback of Peebles, Ella L. Allen of Grand Saline, Texas, and Ruby Pruitt of Bois D Arc, Mo.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.

Visitation will begin after noon Monday in Weir Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant, where the family will receive friends from 7:30 to 9 p.m.

The funeral for Mr. Pendell will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Weir Funeral Home. Interment will full military honors will be held in Finley Cemetery, northwest of Mount Pleasant.

A memorial has been established for Davis Center residents' activity fund in Bloomfield.
