Keith Brimhall

Keith Stewart Brimhall, 84, of Mount Pleasant, died Monday, Nov. 27, 2000, at Park Place Long Term Care Unit in Mount Pleasant.

Born July 26, 1916, near Washington, he was the son of Horace Elmore and Edna Hogue Brimhall. On June 1, 1946, he married Veva L. Krieger in Winfield.

Mr. Brimhall worked at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant in Middletown and farmed for 43 years northeast of Trenton. He retired in 1987 and moved to Mount Pleasant.

He was a graduate of Danville High School and a World War II Army veteran, serving in the United States and overseas for five years in the European Campaign, where he earned the Bronze Star. He was a member of Finley United Methodist Church, where he held many offices, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2561 in Mount Pleasant and American Legion Post 58.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Steven Brimhall of Mount Pleasant and Kenneth Brimhall of San Juan, Texas; one daughter, Marjorie Roth of Mount Pleasant; seven granddaughters; two great-granddaughters; and one sister, Thelma Kelley of Danville.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at Beatty Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant. There will be no family visitation.

The funeral for Mr. Brimhall will be at 10 a.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church in Mount Pleasant, with the Revs. Carl Klein and Kiboko I. Kiboko officiating. Burial with full military rites conducted by VFW Post 2561 and American Legion Post 58 will be in Finley Cemetery.

A memorial has been established for the World War II Veterans Memorial.
