Donald Payne

Donald C. Payne, 83, of rural Wayland, died at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 12, 2000, at the Parkview Home in Wayland.

Born Nov. 19, 1916 in rural Wayland, he was the son of Asa and Lavina Miller Payne. On Aug. 15, 1944 he married Joan Sloat in Mount Pleasant.

Mr. Payne was a lifelong farmer and a graduate of Wayland High School.

He was a member of the Finley United Methodist Church. He enjoyed fishing and traveling.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Russell Payne of Washington, and Gregg Payne of Olds; one daughter, Sandy Beauchamp of Washington; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Graveside services for Mr. Payne will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Finley Cemetery, with Dr. Carl Klein officiating. The body has been cremated according to his wishes.

A memorial has been established for the Finley United Methodist Church.

Beatty Funeral Home in Wayland is in charge of funeral arrangements.
