Allen Nebel

Allen Wesley Nebel, 70, of Mount Pleasant, formerly of the Wayland area, died Friday evening, May 24, 2002, at Park Place Long Term Care Unit in Mount Pleasant.

Born Oct. 18, 1931, in Wayland, he was the son of Frank S. and Alma Elizabeth Rapp Nebel.

Mr. Nebel worked for Continental Western Insurance Co. in Des Moines for 41 years, retiring in 1997.

He was a 1950 graduate of Wayland High School. He was an Air Force veteran, serving in Germany from 1951 to 1955. He was a member of Finley Chapel United Methodist Church. He moved to Park Place in February 1999, where he was a visitation minister to many of the residents.

Survivors include two brothers, Glen "Bud" Nebel of Wayland and Bob Nebel of Washington; three sisters, Louise King of Princeton, Texas, Lois Nebel of Wayland and Bonnie Land of Arvada, Colo.; five nephews; two nieces; and special friend, Dorothy Modole of Ankeny.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be from noon to 5 p.m. Monday at Beatty Funeral Home in Wayland, where the family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m.

The funeral for Mr. Nebel will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Finley Chapel United Methodist Church south of Wayland, with the Rev. Ken Hartman officiating. Burial will be in Finley Cemetery.

Memorials have been established for Finley Cemetery and Park Place Long Term Care Unit.
