Veva Brimhall

Veva Lenora Krieger Brimhall, 89, of Mount Pleasant, died Thursday, May 20, 2004, at the Henry County Health Center in Mount Pleasant.

A Celebration of her life will be 11:00 A.M. Monday, May 24, 2004, at the Finley Chapel New Life Parish Methodist Church with Pastor Nancy Renfro and Dr. Edward Petersen officiating. Burial will be in the Finley Cemetery. No formal visitation will be held at the Beatty Funeral Home, but the funeral home will be open from noon to 7:00 P.M. on Sunday, May 23. Family and friends may call at the Steve and Karen Brimhall residence at 304 North Main Street on Sunday evening.

Veva was born January 22, 1915, in Mt. Union, Iowa, the daughter of George W. and Pearl L. (Lauer) Krieger. She graduated from Mt. Union High School and received her teaching certificate from Iowa Wesleyan College. She was united in marriage to Keith Stewart Brimhall on June 1, 1946, in Winfield, Iowa. He preceded her in death November 27, 2000.

Veva taught country school and later fifth grade at Winfield. Following marriage, she joined her husband on the farm northeast of Trenton. In 1987, they retired and moved to Mt. Pleasant.

Veva was a member of the Finley Chapel New Life Parish Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Henry County Health Center Auxiliary and the VFW Auxiliary. She taught Sunday school for over fifty years and held many offices in the church and United Methodist Women.

Memorials in the name of Veva Brimhall have been established to the Finley Chapel or Iowa Wesleyan College.
