Wynona Cox

Wynona F. Cox, 88, 306 S. Cottonwood, New London, died at 5 p.m. Friday, May 30, 1997, at Henry County Health Center in Mount Pleasant.

Born Nov. 8, 1908, in Mount Vernon, Ohio, she was the daughter of Byrum and Rebecca McClelland. On March 1, 1932, she married Raymond Cox. He died June 8, 1994.

Mrs. Cox was a homemaker.

She was a graduate of Mount Vernon High School and attended University of Ohio in Athens. She was a member of New London United Methodist Church, Order No. 440 Eastern Star and Arema Club.

Survivors include one son, James Cox of New London; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Dora Friend of Polk, Ohio.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one son and one granddaughter.

Visitation will begin after noon Monday at Elliott Chapel in New London, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m.

The funeral for Mrs. Cox will be 1030 a.m. Tuesday at Elliott Chapel, with the Rev. Shirley Hoffmann officiating. Burial will be in Trinity Cemetery in Mount Union.

Memorials have been established for New London United Methodist Church or Salvation Army.

A luncheon will be served immediately following committal at Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7641 in New London.
