Dora Riepe

Dora Eula Swarzentruber Riepe, 101, of New London, died at 955 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 15, 1997, at New London Care Center.

Born June 17, 1895, in Donnellson, she was the daughter of Jacob and Christina Wahrer Swarzentruber. On June 11, 1919, she married Fred Riepe in Mount Pleasant. He died Aug. 7, 1973.

Mrs. Riepe was a homemaker.

She was a member of New London United Methodist Church, Patience Circle and was a devoted Sunday school teacher for more than 50 years. She loved to paint and made her own Christmas cards until 10 years ago.

Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Dottie Riepe of Vinton; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; 11 step-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one son and nine brothers and sisters.

Friends may call from 930 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Elliott Chapel in New London.

The funeral for Mrs. Riepe will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Elliott Chapel with the Rev. Shirley Hoffman officiating. Burial will be in Trinity Cemetery in Mount Union.

A memorial has been established for New London United Methodist Church.
