W. Theodore Fye
W. Theodore Fye, 91, 804 Cherry Place, Mount Pleasant, died at 625 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 4, 1997, at Pleasant Manor Care Center in Mount Pleasant.
Born Nov. 26, 1905, near Yarmouth, he was the son of George and Amelia Glitsch Fye. On Aug. 23, 1934, he married Irma P. Morrow in Monmouth, Ill.
Mr. Fye and his family moved to a farm near Mount Union in 1912. He attended Mount Union High School until his senior year, when he had to help on the family farm, farming there until retiring in 1970 and moving to Mount Pleasant.
He was a member of Trinity Methodist Church, serving on the board and helping take care of the church. He served on Trinity Cemetery Board for many years. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Mount Pleasant.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Janet Hatton of Cedar Rapids and Joan Wagoner of Pawnee, Ill.; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Elsie Moul and Frances Caldwell, both of Mount Pleasant.
He was preceded in death by his parents, twin infant granddaughters, three brothers and five sisters.
Visitation will begin 3 p.m. Monday at Weir Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant, where the family will receive friends from 630 to 8 p.m.
The funeral for Mr. Fye will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Deborah Kiesey and Donald Byer officiating. Burial will be in Trinity Cemetery, south of Mount Union.
Memorials have been established for Parkinson's Foundation, Trinity Cemetery or First United Methodist Church.
