George Mundinger

George Gottlieb Mundinger, 85, of Mount Pleasant, died Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2006, in Mount Pleasant.

Born Nov. 26, 1920, in Malterdingen, Germany, he was the son of Karl and Anna Marie Brucker Mundinger. On June 9, 1946, he married Wanda Jeane Frey in Packwood. She died July 16, 1999.

Mr. Mundinger was a finish grinder for Dana Corp. for 30 years. He retired in 1986.

He was member of New London Christian Church and was a church deacon. He served as a sergeant with the Air Force during World War II. He was a Sunday school teacher and elder for many years in Colorado. He was a member of the Senior Citizens in New London and the Salt Shakers. He was a barber shop singer with the Overtones. He enjoyed gardening and crossword puzzles.

Survivors include one son, George Nathan Mundinger of San Diego; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Elsie Berk of Blissfield, Mich.; two brothers, Carl Mundinger of San Jose, Calif., and Henry Mundinger of Gleason, Wis.; nieces and nephews.

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, one son, one daughter and one sister.

Visitation will be from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at New London Christian Church, with family meeting friends during that time.

The funeral for Mr. Mundinger will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at New London Christian Church, with the Rev. Rod Cooper officiating. Burial will be in Trinity Cemetery in Mount Union.

A memorial has been established for New London Church youth group.

Elliott Chapel in New London is in charge of arrangements.
