Ralph Wick

Ralph Edwin Wick, 82, of Park Place, Mount Pleasant, formerly of Mount Union, died at 1120 a.m. Friday, November 28, 1997, at University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City.

Born Oct. 16, 1915, in Mount Union, he was the son of Albert and Emma Hobbie Wick. On March 21, 1969, he married Lucille F. Simmons in Burlington.

Mr. Wick farmed in Mount Union. He was a 1933 graduate of Mount Union High School and attended the University of Northern Iowa.

He was of the Presbyterian faith. He enjoyed gardening and flowers.

Survivors include his wife; one stepdaughter, Pat Brown of Mount Union; two stepsons, John Simmons of West Burlington and Don Simmons of Kenna, W.Va.; 11 stepgrandchildren; 30 stepgreat-grandchildren; four stepgreat-great-grandchildren; one sister, Helen McWhirt of Newport Beach, Calif.; one brother, Robert Wick of St. Cloud, Minn.; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two stepsons.

Visitation will begin after noon Monday at Elliott Chapel in New London, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

The funeral for Mr. Wick will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Elliott Chapel, with the Rev. Bob Hary officiating. Burial will be in Trinity Cemetery in Mount Union.

A memorial has been established for Park Place in Mount Pleasant.
