Leo Hollingsworth

Leo Courtney Hollingsworth, 87, of Danville, died Tuesday evening, Dec. 5, 2006, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington.

Born Jan. 31, 1919, in Winfield, he was the son of James Allen and Lela Slater Hollingsworth. In 1972 he married Irene Oberman in Nashua.

Mr. Hollingsworth was a barber in Burlington and Danville. In earlier years he operated gas stations in Winfield and Mount Pleasant. He was a 1937 graduate of Winfield High School and a 1960 graduate of barber college. He was a member of Masonic and Moose lodges.

Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Jill Kilbourn of Mount Pleasant; two stepdaughters, Minnie Ann Frazer of Arizona and Janet Kolkman of Danville; two stepsons, Jerry Oberman of Colorado and Ron Oberman of Kentucky; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday at Honts Funeral Home in Winfield, where the family will meet with friends.

The funeral for Mr. Hollingsworth will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Honts Funeral Home in Winfield with the Rev. Paul Hooks officiating. Burial will be in Trinity Cemetery.

A memorial has been established for Danville Fire and Rescue.
