Richard Sartorius

Richard L. Sartorius, 67, of Lomax, Ill., died Wednesday, July 8, 1998, at Burlington Medical Center.

Born July 28, 1930, in Adams County, Ill., he was the son of Henry Richard and Alvina McClain Sartorius.

Mr. Sartorius was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War. He operated a dairy farm in Golden, Ill., for many years. He then worked at J.I. Case in Burlington for 22 years, retiring in 1988. He was owner/operator R and S Auto Sales in Burlington and, later, Dick's Auto Sales in West Burlington.

He was a member of the Marine Corps League in Burlington.

Survivors include one daughter, Rhonda Sartorius of Oakland, Calif.; four sons, Rod Sartorius of Dallas City, Ill., Byron Sartorius of Ocala, Fla., Mike Sartorius of Chicago and Rick Sartorius of Mount Pleasant; nine grandchildren; one great-grandson; one sister, Esther Lovely of Naples, Fla.; and companion, Margaret "Peggy" Brookhiser of Lomax.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.

Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Dallas City, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

The funeral for Mr. Sartorius will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Banks & Beals Funeral Home, with the Rev. Donna Harris officiating. Burial will be with military rites in Trinity Cemetery in Golden.

A memorial has been established to Lomax Ambulance Service of Lomax.
