Daniel Cash Sr.

Daniel J. Cash Sr., 95, of Mount Pleasant, died Sunday, Dec. 3, 2006, at Henry County Health Center in Mount Pleasant.

Born Feb. 15, 1911, in Williamsburg, he was the son of William and Alice Cooney Cash. On April 13, 1936, he married Mary Jo Schroeder in West Point. She preceded him in death.

Mr. Cash farmed most of his life, raising Black Angus cattle. He did carpentry work and he sold tractors for C&R farm store and real estate for Davis and Palmer, all of Mount Pleasant. He also worked in the maintenance department at Mount Pleasant Mental Health Institute until he retired.

He was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church and a fourth–degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He was past president of the Iowa Aberdeen Angus Association. He enjoyed woodworking.

Survivors include three sons, Bill Cash and John Cash, both of Mount Pleasant, and Dan Cash Jr. of Los Alamos, N.M.; one daughter, Georgia Mathews of Danville; 14 grandchildren and 18 great–grandchildren.

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, one brother and three sisters.

Friends may call from noon to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at Beatty–Murphy Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. A Knights of Columbus rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m.

Memorial services for Mr. Cash will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Mount Pleasant with the Rev. Nick Adam officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

A memorial has been established for the St. Alphonsus Youth Group.
