Mary Jo Cash

Mary Jo Cash, 92, of Mount Pleasant, died at 10:25 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2004, at Henry County Health Center in Mount Pleasant.

Born June 19, 1911, in West Point, she was the daughter of H.B. and Rose Meyers Schroeder. On April 13, 1936, she married Daniel J. Cash in West Point.

Mrs. Cash held various bookkeeping positions.

She was a 1928 graduate of St. Mary's High School in West Point. She was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church and its Altar and Rosary Society. She loved baking and playing the organ.

Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Margaret Carrick of Mount Pleasant and Georgia Mathews of Danville; three sons, John A. Cash and William H. Cash, both of Mount Pleasant, and Dan J. Cash of Los Alamos, N.M.; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Fredrick Schroeder of Scottsdale, Ariz.

She was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters and one brother.

Visitation will be from noon to 8:30 p.m. today at Beatty Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant, with a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. after which the family will receive friends to 8:30 p.m.

The funeral Mass for Mrs. Cash will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, with the Rev. Nick Adam officiating.

Memorials have been established for the Iowa Lions Eye Bank and St. Alphonsus Catholic Church.
