Ruth Brandmeyer

Ruth Nau Brandmeyer, 85, of Story City, formerly of Danville, died Friday, Aug. 1, 2003, at Bethany Manor in Story City.

Born Feb. 16, 1918, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Cleaver and Cliffie Windland Nau. She was married to A. V. Brandmeyer for 25 years.

She was a 1935 graduate of Danville High School and attended Iowa Wesleyan College.

Mrs. Brandmeyer was a librarian in Belmond, dorm director at Luther College, housemother to the Alpha Chi Omega sorority and dorm director of Kresge Hall at Simpson College. After she moved to Des Moines, she worked for Cargill Inc. as a lab technician. She retired in 1984 to Story City.

She was a member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church. She was a member of Chapter FZ, and P.E.O.

She enjoyed sewing, quilting, volunteering, reading, playing cards and traveling.

Survivors include three sons, Stan Brandmeyer of Boone, Randy Brandmeyer of Cotati, Calif., and Blair Brandmeyer of Story City; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and two sisters, Georgiana Young of New London and Gerry Boland of Williamsburg.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.

Visitation will be at 9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, 2003, at Elliott Chapel in New London, where the family will receive friends between 10 and 11 a.m.

The funeral for Mrs. Brandmeyer will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, at the chapel with the Rev. Matt Miller officiating. Burial will be in the Long Creek Cemetery in Danville.

A memorial has been established.
