Garry Mehaffy

Garry W. Mehaffy, 53, of Burlington, died Saturday, Aug. 14, 2004, at his home.

Born Nov. 18, 1950, in Burlington, he was the son of Lewis and Glenna Rowe Mehaffy.

Mr. Mehaffy worked as an electrical tester for General Electric for 30 years. He worked in radar maintenance in Germany while serving in the Army during the Vietnam War.

He attended Burlington High School. He was a member of AMA and ATV Association. He enjoyed motocross and quad racing, hunting, fishing, camping, and mushroom and wild berry picking.

Survivors include one son, Scott Allen Mehaffy of Burlington; one daughter, Megan Anne Mehaffy of Burlington; his parents of Burlington; one brother, Dennis C. Mehaffy of Burlington; three sisters, Debbie Buechel and Diane Buechel, both of New London, Kathleen Smith of Sperry, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents.

Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday at Lunning Chapel in Burlington, where the family will receive friends from 4 to 5 p.m.

A celebration of life will be at 5 p.m. Wednesday at Lunning Chapel. Following services, Mr. Mehaffy's body will be cremated. Burial will be at a later date in Long Creek Cemetery, rural Danville.

A memorial has been established.
