Ellsworth Dodds

Ellsworth Dodds, 92, of Danville, died at 10:27 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2004, at Danville Care Center.

Born Oct. 15, 1912, in Des Moines County, he was the son of Bert Ellsworth and Lulu Blakeway Dodds. On June 4, 1938, he married Mary Allen in Mount Pleasant. She died June 19, 1998.

Mr. Dodds was a lifelong farmer.

He attended South Flint Country School and was a graduate of Danville High School and Iowa Wesleyan College. He was a member of Danville Methodist Church. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking and going to ball games. He opened the weight room for Danville High School boys in the mornings.

Survivors include one son, Herbert Dodds of New London; one daughter, Nancy Hamann of Green Bay, Wis.; and three grandsons.

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Friday at Elliott Chapel in New London. There will be no family visitation.

The funeral for Mr. Dodds will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Elliott Chapel, with Pastor Richard Latta officiating. Burial will be in Long Creek Cemetery in Danville.

Memorials have been established for the Danville Care Center and the industrial technology department at Danville High School.
