Arlo Prehm

Arlo A. Prehm, 74, of Danville, died Saturday, July 1, 2006, at Arbor Court in Mount Pleasant.

Born May 27, 1932 in Middletown, he was the son of Henry M. and Ruth Heibner Prehm. On May 10, 1953, he married Ardeth Gaunt in Burlington. She died April 18, 1992.

He was a 1950 graduate of Danville High School and served in the Army in Germany during the Korean War. He was a member of Long Creek United Methodist Church, where he was a trustee. He also served as trustee for Pleasant Grove Cemetery. He was on the Baltimore Township election board and board member of Henry County ASCS. Mr. Prehm was active as an exhibitor at Midwest Old Threshers for over 30 years. He was a member of the Southeast Iowa Gas Engine Club. He was a member of the Flutterwheels square dance club in Danville.

Survivors include two sons, Mark and Michael, both of Danville; one daughter, Karen Van Brocklin of Fort Madison; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Alice Prehm of Danville and Esther Weuve of State Center.

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.

Visitation will held after 12 noon on Wednesday at Elliott Chapel in New London, with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

Funeral services for Mr. Prehm will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Elliott Chapel, with the Rev. Richard Latta officiating. Military rites will be presented by the Henry County honor guard. Burial will be in Long Creek Cemetery in Danville.

A memorial has been established for Long Creek United Methodist Church and Danville Community School District Foundation.
