Ellis Henessee
Ellis L. Henessee, 83, of Mount Pleasant died at 4:20 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 20, 2005, at Henry County Health Center in Mount Pleasant.
Born Sept. 9, 1922, in Henry County, he was the son of LeRoy and Grace Summers Henessee. On Feb. 8, 1943, he married Jean Myers in Mount Pleasant.
Mr. Henessee farmed, drove a school bus for Mount Union schools, worked for the CB&Q Railroad and worked for the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant in Middletown for 22 years.
He attended country schools. He was an Army veteran. He was of the Catholic faith. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and dancing. He was a former member of the Eagles and Moose and was caretaker for the pioneer Baltimore Township Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Larry Henessee and Dennis Henessee, both of Mount Pleasant; three daughters, Karen Vaughn of San Angelo, Texas, Linda Norton of Mount Pleasant and Donna Dean of Danville; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Lucille Seager of Burlington.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one infant son, one sister and one brother.
Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Sunday at Elliott Chapel in New London, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
The funeral for Mr. Henessee will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Elliott Chapel. Burial with military rites conducted by Henry County Honor Guard will be in Burge Cemetery in New London.
Memorials have been established for American Diabetes Association and donor's choice.
