Donald Wasson
Donald Milton Wasson, 79, of New London died Thursday, Feb. 10, 2005, at his home.
Born Dec. 28, 1925, in Burlington, he was the son of Dewey and Katherine Leffler Wasson. On Nov. 6, 1952, he married Joanne Duebner in Burlington. They later divorced.
Mr. Wasson was an inspector at Mason-Hanger in West Burlington for 29 years, retiring in 1988.
He attended Burlington and New London schools. He was of the Lutheran faith. He was a World War II Army veteran and received the Purple Heart. He was a life member of New London Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7641, where he was past commander. He liked to hunt and fish.
Survivors include two daughters, Pamela Wasson and Lori Poe, both of New London; two grandsons; and two brothers, Charles Wasson of Burlington and Dan Wasson of West Memphis, Ark.
He was preceded in death by one son, his parents and three brothers.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to the time of service Tuesday at Elliott Chapel in New London, where the family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. The body has been cremated.
The memorial service for Mr. Wasson will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Elliott Chapel, with Pastor Rod Cooper officiating. Burial with military rites conducted by Henry County Honor Guard will be in Burge Cemetery in New London.
A memorial has been established.
