Irene Pollock
Irene DeSpain Pollock, 98, of New London died Thursday, Jan. 20, 2005, at New London Nursing & Rehab.
Born May 27, 1906, north of New London, she was the daughter of Ernest and Alpha Schreyer DeSpain. On Oct. 27, 1926, she married Harry Pollock in New London. He died March 25, 1971.
Mrs. Pollock was a homemaker. She worked at New London Glove Factory for 21 years and New London Variety Store.
She attended New London High School and was a member of New London Christian Church. She enjoyed quilting, sewing and crocheting, liked to watch and feed birds and squirrels and enjoyed gardening and yardwork.
Survivors include two sons, Dick Pollock of New London and Raymond Pollock of San Jose, Calif.; one daughter, Betty McKinnon of Ventura; one stepdaughter, Dorothy McCleary of Ancorage, Alaska; nine grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, her stepfather, Elmer Craig, one daughter, one stepson and one grandson.
Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Monday at Elliott Chapel in New London. There will be no family visitation.
The funeral for Mrs. Pollock will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Elliott Chapel, with Pastor Rod Cooper officiating. Burial will be in Burge Cemetery in New London.
A memorial has been established for the New London Nursing & Rehab activity fund.
