Arbutus Louise Goody, 86, of New London, died Saturday, June 17, 2006, at Donnellson Health Center in Donnellson.
Born March 8, 1920, in Burlington, she was the daughter of John Pearl and Wilna Loretta Lyman Kalmus. On Feb. 27, 1939, she married Bernard William Grimm in Kahoka, Mo. On Dec. 13, 1949, she married Frank Joseph Goody in Pueblo, Colo. He died June 18, 1993.
Mrs. Goody was a homemaker. She worked with her husband in their trucking business in New London for many years. She also was a driver for the company.
She attended New London High School. She was a member of New London Christian Church. She was raised by her grandmother. She was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7641 ladies auxiliary. She was a seamstress and loved all kinds of crafts.
Survivors include one daughter, Betty Piper of Livingston, Texas; five sons, Gary Koch of Wichita Falls, Texas, James Grimm of Des Moines, William Grimm of Jefferson City, Mo., Douglas Grimm of Columbia, Mo., and Frank Goody of Burlington; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one sister, Patricia Victoria Abraham of Bakersfield, Calif.; and one brother, Robert DeWayne Schoen of El Paso, Texas.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one infant daughter and one sister.
Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at Elliott Chapel in New London, with family meeting friends from 10 to 11 a.m.
The funeral for Mrs. Goody will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Elliott Chapel, with the Rev. Rod Cooper officiating. Burial will be in Burge Cemetery in New London.
A memorial has been established for Donnellson Health Center.
