Lorene Ritchey

Lorene F. Ritchey, 94, of New London died Wednesday, May 31, 2006, at New London Nursing and Rehab Center.
Born May 26, 1912, in Trenton, she was the daughter of Fred and Fern Smith Ensminger. On Aug. 5, 1930, she married Howard Ritchey in Detroit. He died April 24, 1994.
Mrs. Ritchey was a homemaker. Along with her husband, she owned and operated Ritchey's Hardware and Ritchey's Variety in New London. She also opened the Geode Restaurant in New London with her husband.
She attended elementary schools in the Trenton and Rome area and attended New London High School. She was a member of New London United Methodist Church, Mother's Club and Joy Circle. She enjoyed playing bridge, traveling and family vacations. She and her husband wintered in Florida for 17 years.
Survivors include two sons, Tom Ritchey and Jim Ritchey, both of New London; eight grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and one son.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Elliott Chapel in New London, with family meeting friends from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The funeral for Mrs. Ritchey will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Elliott Chapel, with the Rev. Matt Miller officiating. Burial will be in Burge Cemetery in New London.
A memorial has been established for United Methodist Church in New London.
