Frank H. Carlson

Frank H. Carlson, 86, of Aledo, Ill., died Saturday, Nov. 11, 2006, at Trinity Medical Center in Rock Island, Ill.

Born May 30, 1920, in New London, he was the son of C. Henry and Dollie Jane Barney Carlson. In 1948, he married Margaret McKinnon. She died in 1958. On June 24, 1960, he married E. Donita VonSeggen in Farmington.

He graduated from New London High School. He was employed at Wells Lamont Glove Factory and Stout Recorder Co. in New London. During World War II, he worked at the J.I. Case plant in Burlington and helped build the site for the production of the B24 bomber. In 1950, he began working for the Iowa/Illinois Telephone Co., moving to Aledo, where he worked for Contel and GTE Verizon until retiring in 1984.

He was a charter member and organist for the Aledo Church of the Nazarene and enjoyed woodworking, small appliance repair and wintering in Florida.

Survivors include his wife of Aledo; two sons, Larry Carlson of Chester, Mass., and Ron Carlson of Greenville, S.C.; eight grandchildren; and seven great–grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one granddaughter.

Visitation with family is from 5 until 7 p.m. Tuesday at Fippinger Funeral Home in Aledo.

The funeral service for Mr. Carlson will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Aledo Church of the Nazarene. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. at Burge Cemetery in New London.

Memorials have been established for the Aledo Church of the Nazarene.
