Second obituary – Mrs. Belle Pinkerton

Florence Isabelle Stansbury, daughter of Daniel and Margaret McKeehan-Stansbury was born in Lee County August 1, 1858 and passed away December 13, 1945 at the age of 87 years, 4 months, and 12 days. She was married to Andrew Hart of McPherson, Kansas in 1887. To this union one daughter, Ethel, was born.

Later in life she was united in marriage to Joseph Pinkerton of Manhattan, Kansas. After his death she returned to Iowa, coming to Salem in 1929 where she has since made her home.

Two brothers and two sisters mourn her departure. They are Charles Stansbury, McPherson, Kansas; Mrs. Alice Randolph, Salem; Mrs. Jennie Cochran, Ft. Madison; Will Stansbury, Farmington. Also, five grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren survive.

When a young woman, Belle united with the Presbyterian Church at Sharon and in Salem, she became a member of the Methodist church. She was faithful in attendance as long as health permitted and her interest continues even after she was a shut in. In 1940, her granddaughter, Mrs. Edna Lamb and her husband and family came to Salem and they have faithfully cared for her in her last days.

The funeral was held at Stevens Funeral Home in Salem, Saturday, December 15 at 2 P.M. conducted by Mrs. Bessie F. Collins. Mrs. Winnifred Cowell sang “God Will Provide” and “Sometime We’ll Understand” accompanied by Mrs. Sue Foss. Interment was in the Sharon Cemetery, Lee County, Iowa and pallbearers were William Johnson, H. C. Garretson, Al Miller, Rayno Morrison, O.A. Schwarz, and Albert Harshbarger.
