Dr. Hanna, Born At Winfield, Is Dead

Burlington—Dr. John T. Hanna, former well known Burlington physician and surgeon died at 3:25 P.M. Tuesday in a Milwaukee, Wisconsin hospital after a long illness. Death was caused by coronary thrombosis and bronchial pneumonia.

A native of Winfield, Iowa, Hanna was born August 31, 1890. He graduated from the University of Iowa in Science in 1912 and medicine in 1915, and took post-graduate work at Chicago Hospital and May Clinic.

He was a 1st Lieutenant in the Medical Corps in World War I, and was a Major in the Medical Reserve Corps when stricken with a cerebral hemorrhage in Burlington in June, 1941.

He practiced medicine and surgery in Burlington for over 20 years and at one time was local surgeon for the Rock Island Railroad.

Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Frances Hanna; one son, John, Jr.; a daughter, Betty; and a brother, Walker Hanna of Burlington.

The body will be brought to the Burnett-Wallen funeral home Wednesday night. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home at 1:30 P.M. Friday. Burial will be in Winfield Cemetery.
