Mt. Pleasant News – December 18, 1945

Mrs. Jack Allen Ill Only 2 Days

Mrs. Jack Allen, 21, passed away suddenly at 9:30 Monday morning at the home of her parents near Mt. Union after two days illness. The death of this lovely young wife and mother comes as a great shock to her many loved ones and friends.

Wanda Yvonne Mason, only daughter of Martin Floyd and Lela Fern Mason was born June 29, 1924. She was graduated from the Winfield High School with the class of 1942. On October 14, 1942, she was united in marriage to Staff Sgt. Jack Allen of Winfield at Roswell, New Mexico where they resided until July of this year, when he was sent overseas to the south Pacific. Since July, Mrs. Allen and small daughter have resided with her parents.

She leaves to mourn her passing her husband, now presumed to be on his way home from the Pacific, a year and a half old daughter, Kathryn Yvonne, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. M.F. Mason, and brother, Sgt. Malcolm Mason now with the labor supervision center in Le Havre, France. She is also survived by her grandfather, George C. Croson of Morning Sun, and a host of other relatives and friends.

She joined the Winfield Presbyterian Church in early girlhood from which funeral services will be held on Thursday afternoon at 2:00 with burial in the Winfield Scott Township Cemetery.
