Mt. Pleasant News – December 10, 1945
Mrs. Lipscomb, Nearly 95, Taken
Was Widow of Civil War Veteran

Mrs. Kate Lipscomb, one of the very few remaining Civil War Soldiers’ widows residing in the county, died at 8:00 Sunday morning at the home of her daughter here on North Main Street. Mrs. Lipscomb would have been 95 years old in February. She had been in failing health for many months due largely to the infirmities of old age.

Mrs. Lipscomb had been an honored guest at many local gatherings of organizations such as the WRC and the D. of U.V. because she was a Civil War veteran’s widow. She apparently greatly enjoyed these events.

She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. G. H. Lindsay.

The funeral service will be held at 2:30 Tuesday afternoon at the Cookes Funeral Home with the Rev. George G. Hunt officiating. The body is at the funeral home were friends may call.
