Mt. Pleasant News – December 4, 1945

Charles Hultquist, 85, retired farmer of Swedesburg, was found dead in bed this morning by his daughter, Miss Elsie. Mr. Hultquist had suffered from a heart ailment for several years but had been in his usual health and had driven his car to Winfield Monday afternoon. Mr. Hultquist was interested in all community affairs and was especially active in the church of which he was recently elected Deacon Emeritus after serving in an active capacity for many years. Mrs. Hultquist preceded him in death several years ago.

Surviving are the following children: Miss Elsie Hultquist at home; Mrs. Florence Barquist and Raymond Hultquist of Swedesburg, and Mrs. Astlund of Des Moines.

Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 1:45 at the home and at 2:00 at the church in Swedesburg. The body will remain at the Crane Funeral home until Friday morning.
