Funeral for Mrs. M. Monson

Funeral services for Mrs. Matilda Monson were held at the Trenton Methodist Church Sunday with O. T. Wilson officiating, assisted by Rev. Henderson of Wayland. Short services were held at the Zehr Funeral Home at Wayland before the Trenton services. Burial was at Green Mound.

Johanna Matilda Pearson was born in Sweden on June 18, 1854 and passed away at the home of her son, Everett, of Wayland with whom she had made her home for the last 4 ½ years, at the age of 94 years, 6 months, and 26 days.

She came to this country with her parents when she was 12 years of age and settled in Jefferson County. On March 12, 1879, she was united in marriage to Andrew Monson who preceded her in death on February 1, 1919. They settled in Henry County near Trenton, where all their married life was spent. To this union were born three sons, Frank and Albert of Mt. Pleasant, and Everett of Wayland. She is also survived by a sister, Mrs. Amanda Olson of Haddam, Kansas, and by six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

At an early age she was confirmed in the New Sweden Lutheran Church near Four Corners and remained loyal to this faith until her passing.
