Dick D. Millspaugh

Professor Dick D. Millspaugh, 72, Route 3, Mt. Pleasant, died Thursday, Jan. 7, 1988, at 6:55 p.m. at the Keokuk Convalescent Center.

He was born Oct. 20, 1915, at Wapello, the son of Peter and Cassie Dawson Millspaugh. On Aug. 21, 1956, at Nashua, he married Donna Mae Johnson.

Mr. Millspaugh was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Mt. Pleasant, and had served as a captain in the Army during World War II. He was a 1937 graduate of Iowa Wesleyan College and received his master's degree from Southern Methodist University and doctorate's degree from Iowa State University. For 43 years was a professor of biology at Iowa Wesleyan College. He retired as a professor emeritus at IWC and was a member Tri Beta at IWC.

Surviving are his wife; three sons, Dick, Columbia, Mo.; John H., Mt. Pleasant; and Michael, Lebanon, Mo.; two daughters, Mrs. Dan [Marie] Pritchard, Novinger, Mo., and Jan Cane, Baconton, Ga., one brother, Ledru, Cape Coral, Fla; two sisters, Mrs. Clista McElhinney, Cedar Rapids, and Mrs. Darla Murray, Powell, Wyo.; and 17 grandchildren.

His parents preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be Monday, Jan. 11, at 10:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church. The Rev. Tim Davison and the Rev. George White will officiate with interment in Oakland Mills Cemetery. The casket will remain closed at the church.

Visitation will begin after 1 p. m. Saturday at the Beatty-Wilkins Funeral Home. A memorial has been established for the IWC Biology Department.
