Mrs. E.C. Hinkle Dies At Winfield.
Was Widow of Former Winfield Publisher.Mrs. E.C. Hinkle of Winfield passed away at her home Monday night following a three years’ illness.
Frances E. Wyse, daughter of Morgan and Jane Wyse, was born March 22, 1860, near Winona, Ill. When she was fourteen, she came with her parents to Winfield to make her home. She was the last member of a family of eleven children.
On June 19, 1884, she was married to Edward C. Hinkle, who passed away 20 years ago. He was editor of the Winfield Beacon for many years.
Surviving are three children, Ethel W. at home, Mrs. M.J. Cummings of Rock Island, Ill, and Charles Hinkle of Davenport. There are also surviving two grandchildren, Jane and Martha Hinkle, also of Davenport.
Services were held at the Hinkle home this afternoon with the Rev. D.E. Freeman, pastor of the First Presbyterian church at Winfield, in charge. Burial was in the Winfield-Scott Township cemetery.
