Irvin Jerrel Dies Suddenly
Stricken Monday Evening At His Home

Irvin Jerrel, 44, died unexpectedly at his home, 900 East Madison St., New Year’s eve. Mr. Jerrel was stricken suddenly and expired before Mrs. Jerrel could reach him.

He and his brother, Ted, had spent the day hunting and returned in the late afternoon. Mr. Jerrel ate his supper, seemed in good health and went to the basement to do some work. He returned a short time later and walked into the front room. A moment later Mr. Jerrel heard a noise in the front room and when she went in, she found he had collapsed. A doctor was called but Mr. Jerrel was beyond medical assistance. Death was likely from a heart attack.

A former farmer southwest of Mt. Pleasant, he more recently had been engaged in carpenter work.

He is survived by his wife and by a son, Irvin, Jr., and also by a daughter by a former marriage, Betty Stewart, also by the following brothers and sisters: Ted and Walter of Mt. Pleasant, Bert of Burlington, Carl in the service and likely in Hawaii, Mrs. Harold Niece and Mrs. Leslie Logan, both of Mt. Pleasant, Ruth Durfee, Anna Scott, and Gladys Boatwright, all of Council Bluffs.

The funeral will be held Thursday afternoon at two o’clock at the Cookes Funeral home with Rev. George G. Hunt officiating. Burial will be at Forest Home cemetery.
