Mrs. John (Lera) Gillaspey, 77, Kent, Washington, formerly of the Finley Community, died Tuesday, June 11, 1985 at 12:15 A.M. at the St. Francis Hospital, Tulsa, Oklahoma.

She was born November 11, 1908 at Mt. Pleasant, the daughter of the Rev. John and Julie Koch Behrens. On August 27, 1940 she was married to John E. Gillaspey at Winfield. He died in 1966.

Mrs. Gillaspey was a member of Eastern Star and White Shrine of Mt. Pleasant, P.E.O. Chapter GV in Kent, Washington, and was active in the Kent Senior Citizens. A retired school teacher, Mrs. Gillaspey was a member of the Kent United Methodist Church.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Helen) Rhodes, Tulsa, Oklahoma, with whom she was visiting at the time of her death, and Mrs. Robert (Judith) Brooks, Kent, Washington; one sister, Ruth Behrens, Ottumwa, and three grandchildren.

Her parents, one sister, Kathryn Anderson, and one brother, Julius, also preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be Saturday, June 15, at 11 A.M. at the Finley Chapel of the United Methodist Church. The Rev. Richard Dunn will officiate with interment in the Finley Cemetery.

Friends may call as they desire after 4 P.M. Friday at the Beatty Funeral Home, Mt. Pleasant. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 P.M. Friday at the funeral home. A memorial has been established for the Kent Senior Citizen Center.
