Mary Wenger, 94, of Wayland, died Friday, Nov. 21, 2003, at Parkview Home in Wayland.

Born Feb. 1, 1909, she was the daughter of Christian G. and Elizabeth Rediger Widmer. On Dec. 31, 1931, she married Raymond Wenger in Wayland.

She graduated from Goshen Academy and received her teacher's certificate from Iowa Wesleyan College.

She was a member of Sugar Creek Mennonite Church where she taught Sunday school for many years and was involved with the Women's Sewing Circle.

Mrs. Wenger taught school after college and helped with the family farm. She enjoyed gardening and opening their home to the children of the fresh air program.

Survivors include three sons, John Wenger of Wayland, Paul Wenger of Ann Arbor, Mich., James Wenger of Baltimore; three brothers, Reuben Widmer of Green Valley, Ariz., Glen Widmer of Wayland, and Daniel Widmer of Albany, Ore.; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, three sisters and one grandson.

Visitation will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Sugar Creek Church, where the family will receive friends between 7 and 8:30 p.m.

The funeral for Mrs. Wenger will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Sugar Creek Mennonite Church with the Rev. Bob Hartzler officiating. Burial will be in the Sugar Creek Cemetery.

A memorial has been established for the Parkview Home.
