Ray Scarff 1925- 2003

Ray G. Scarff, 78, of Trenton, died unexpectedly Sunday, Nov. 9, 2003, at his home.

Born Oct. 27, 1925, south of Trenton, he was the son of Leslie and Freda M. Bates Scarff. On Oct. 17, 1948, he married Anna Engbrecht in Dolton, S.D.

Mr. Scarff worked for Carpenter and Millwright for Union 410 until retiring in 1987.

He was a graduate of Mount Pleasant High School and was a World War II Army veteran. He was a longtime resident of Trenton and a member of Trenton Missionary Church. He enjoyed rebuilding cars, and in his early years, announced races at local area dirt race tracks for MVSC and IMCA.

Survivors include his wife; one son Ron Scarff of Wayland; one daughter, Sharon Scarff of Tulsa, Okla.; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Glenn Scarff of Lake Ozark, Mo.; and two sisters, Evelyn Graber of Elkhart, Ind., and Bernice Callis of Holecomb, Ark.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Beatty Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

The funeral for Mr. Scarff will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Trenton Missionary Church. Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery in Mount Pleasant.

A memorial has been established for Trenton Missionary Church.
